turned out en mass recently at a private party to celebrate the opening of Jay Hamada’s beautiful restaurant at East Flamingo and Paradise Rds. A traditional Asian musical tribute preceded the opening ceremonies and welcoming comments by County Commissioner Myrna Williams, and Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. Jay Hamada, a respected long-time Vegas restaurateur, welcomed the party-goers, introduced the “Hamada
Family”, and highlighted diners expectations for Japanese cuisine and service at this beautiful restaurant. The ceremonies concluded with a spectacular cask opening (breaking the cask with an ax) of sake from which the celebrants drank and offered their toasts to Hamada’s good fortune. Members of Las Vegas’ Asian -American Chamber of Commerce gave their continued support to the Hamada’s. The invited guests
savored various Japanese style appetizers, sushi, tempuras, chicken and vegetable from the teppan grill, along with fine sake, wine, champagne, and other beverages. At 10:00 P.M. the doors opened to an excited crowd of patrons eager to enjoy some of the best Japanese cuisine in Las Vegas in a building designed to house 4 exclusively different Japanese dining venues: Sushi Bar, Teppan Grill, Tatami Room, and Dining Room in addition to a cocktail lounge.
